Track Descriptions
Don't Start - Track 1 from the Rude Awakening album. Multifaceted and dynamic, this track covers a lot of ground. Steel & electric guitars, with Mellotron, over syncopated drumming… some ARP Pro Soloist too.
Life Itself (For Vangelis) - Track 2 from the Rude Awakening album. A big influence on me, Vangelis was a great writer and a true master of the synthesizer… he will be missed. This track is a nod to his work with Jon Anderson.
Cymru (For Micky & Deke) - Track 3 from the Rude Awakening album. A homage to one of my favorites… Wales best, MAN!
Novus Sensus - Track 4 from the Rude Awakening album. From the latin, New Perception, this one was inspired by psychedelics and the mystery unlocked. Acoustic & steel guitars, Farfisa organ and lots of reverb lay the foundation of this pensive track.
Understood - Track 5 from the Rude Awakening album. This little interlude is just me blowing off some steam on fuzz guitar and drums… with the help of some Cosmonauts!
Solitude (Including "The Death of the King" And "The Capture of Titan") - Track 6 from the Rude Awakening album. Sombre would be one word to describe the overall feel of this one, though it's in three parts. The Death of the King is based on a theme by J.S. Bach, with two flutes and 12-string guitar. The Capture of Titan, comprising the third part, is a study in the subtlety of the Mellotron.
Don't Start Again - Track 7 from the Rude Awakening album. A reprise of the albums first track Don't Start. A quick jolt before the exit…
The Escape - A single release… this one features Chapman Stick with electric guitar & fretless Jazz Bass solos. Another side project, quite unlike most of my Jazz and Orchestral work. Reminds me of the circa 2000 King Crimson “Double Trio” music, with a fusion fretless bass sound to make something rather unique… different for sure.
